How Much CBD To Take

Ready to Determine Your Perfect Dose?

That is the question isn’t it? Whether you are an experienced CBD user, or a newbie, understanding how CBD works, or how much of it to take, can still be confusing. Why isn’t there one clear answer? Well… the FDA has not yet created a Recommended Daily Intake or RDI for CBD. CBD is still classified as a “natural remedy” by the FDA. Because of this, it is up to each CBD company to research and provide a suggested serving amount for their products. Which is also why there are so many different suggestions for the perfect dose. Unfortunately, there is no single answer to: How much CBD should I take?

There are many factors about CBD products that can change how you dose it, such as:

  • Concentration of the CBD
  • Consumers body chemistry & metabolism
  • Application of the CBD product (Topical, Sublingual, Inhaled, Ingested)
  • Consumers weight & diet
  • Severity of the condition being treated

Ultimately it is up to the consumer to experiment with dosage through some trial and error. But, the nice thing about experimenting with CBD dosing is that it’s natural, non-toxic, and nearly impossible to overdose. You should start small and take note of the amount you start with. CBD is measured in milligrams, (mg). You should familiarize yourself with gram and milligram measurements to better understand CBD dosing.

Experiment with a certain dosage for three days to give your body time to react to the supplement. Adjust the dosage more or less accordingly for the next three-day period. If you feel any discomfort from a dosage, decrease it immediately the next time you take the CBD product. You can always increase gradually from there.

Here are 3 tips to help find the right dose:

1. Estimate Based on Body Weight

Like most substances, individuals with more body mass will require a higher dose to experience the effects of CBD. A general guideline for determining a proper dose is to take 2-8mg of CBD for every 10 pounds of body weight based on the severity of what you are treating. Check out this Chart:

2. Consult Your Physician

If you are nervous, consult your doctor, especially if you have an existing medical condition. I also suggest talking to a doctor who is familiar with CBD, THC and other plant-type healing. Most doctors should have a good idea of how the CBD will react with your body and can provide some type of medical dose for you.

3. Start Small and Adjust Gradually

HempX 30mL Tincture Oils are offered in two strengths, 1000mg and 1500mg. One dropper full of the 1000mg CBD Oil Tincture is a 33.3mg dose (1-serving), and one half-full dropper is roughly a 16mg dose (½-serving). One dropper full of the 1500mg CBD Oil Tincture is a 50mg dose (1-serving), and one half-full dropper is a 25mg dose (½-serving). Refer to the Chart above, start small, and work your way up to a dose that makes your body feel good and sets your mind right.

As you can see, CBD is a complex and useful compound, but unfortunately the government isn’t fully on the bandwagon. Progress is full speed ahead, but until the FDA comes out with a guideline, CBD dosing will rely on experimentation and simple math. Once you calculate how many milligrams your perfect dose is, you can easily determine how much of any product to take!
